Lamia Makkar cofounded the nonprofit Haiti: Hands On at age 13, strengthening vulnerable Haitian communities through innovative education and capacity development opportunities. She has since served as its Managing Director, working with local communities to open the first school in its region, and cofounded WOCO, a platform that builds and grows innovation ecosystems in emerging markets.
She has additionally managed and hosted a 4-year Global Issues Network Conference series in the Middle East and continues work as a youth learning and development facilitator around the world.
Lamia has presented her work at the United Nations, to top venture capitalists in Silicon Valley, WEF's Open Forum Davos youth satellite Youth Forum Switzerland, Haiti Tech Summit and University Startup World Cup. She is currently pursuing B.As in International Development and Computer Science at Swarthmore College, USA.
